THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLING FOR TEENAGERS
Patrick offers therapeutic sessions for helping teenagers and adolescents over the age of 16 to discuss their feelings in a safe and confidential way. In his experience, the most common issues that Patrick encounters with young teenagers is anger management and stress.
Even though people often link stress to older generations, the stress that a teenager goes through can be quite significant. They can struggle with how they are supposed to be with their peers, families and themselves in general. In today’s lifestyle, it is getting harder and harder for them to navigate through their early teenage years and the jump that comes with being a young adult.
It is important during the therapeutic sessions to build trust. During all of the sessions, confidentiality is very important. Nothing of the session will be discussed with the teenagers parents unless there is a safety issue at hand. If the teenager requests it, the parents can be involved during the stages of therapy as much as they want.
If there is a communication issue between the parents and the teenager, Patrick will help them to learn to communicate better with each other. The aim of the therapy sessions will be to help the teenager understand their stress or anger problems leading to them finding a balance in their lives.
